D Block:

Today:

We watched a short documentary on George Orwell. There was a short assignment that went along with it.

We read the article: Simpler terms: Orwellian

We reviewed your reading.

I gave you a quiz.

HW: Please finish reading 1984.

A + B Block:

Today:

We finished Araby.
Today we looked at some of the symbols in the story. We discussed what are the things that make a good short story. Most of you agreed that the story was missing a traditional plot. I suggested the beauty in the writing is the power of the story.

We also read George Orwell's short story, Shooting an Elephant. We looked at the epiphany in the story and talked a little about Orwell's experience in the army and how it influence the majority of his writing.

Suggested reading: 1984. Please see me if you would like to borrow a copy to read.
