Can you break the code, C Block Shakespeare?

So, we talked about The Bacon Cipher today.  Can you break this code that I send to you?

Journal #22The hidden code.  Please write a 1/2 a page and hide a word/idea/line/number in your writing.  Please then explain what you hid.

We looked at the idea of hiding things in art for others to discover and find.

We looked at a bunch of recordings that have backward and secret messages in them.

Did WS do this?

We read an article suggesting that Shakespeare was Catholic and used dates and images in his plays to make statements secretly about Protestant rule in England.

We looked at the Baconian Cipher and looked at how this code could be used to hide things in the sonnets.

We ended class learning about the game Othello and played a fierce boy vs. girl game that resulted in a tie.

We started taking a human behavior survey.  We discussed your response on love, violence and ambition.

We went over the sonnets that I asked your to reflect on for HW.  I collected these.

We started act II and discussed the significance of starting the act with a storm.

We reviewed for the Macbeth Test.

Projects are due Friday as well.

Journal Prompt #21:  Please describe a moment when jealousy got the best of you.     1 page

We went over the characters in the play and detailed their relationships.

We talked about your HW reading and debated whether Shakespeare was just the most famous plagiarist.

We broke into 3 groups and did still silhouette slides (5) showing all emotion and plot. (Pictures above)

HW:  Please read sonnets 40, 57, 61, 87.  Please examine how each poem shows passion/jealousy/love.  Are they positive, or negative?  What are they about?                                            1 page.

Brit Lit:

We finished act 5 and finished our notes.

I played some previous Macbeth video projects to inspire you.  We went over the other options for the project and I answered any questions that you had.

We finished watching the end of the Polanski ver. of Macbeth.

We nominated 2 to play Who Wants to Win a Pizza Party.  We will be reviewing for the test and be playing a review game on Thursday.

HW:  Test Friday- please make sure you have all of your notes, as you may use them.  Macbeth projects are also due on Friday.

We discussed act 1.

I shared pictures that I took in Venice

We looked at the derogatory terms used to describe Othello.  I broke you into small groups and asked you to find 10 terms used to describe Othello.

HW:  Please read the translated origin of Othello: Cinthios Tale (1565)

Brit Lit:

We almost finished act 5.

We took notes on 4.3-5.3

We took a quiz on 4-5.

HW:  Please work on your Macbeth projects.  These are due Friday.

We finished presenting your sonnet projects.

I passed out Othello and introduced the story.

HW:  Please read act 1.

Brit Lit:

Today:

I asked you to imagine how the play will resolve in act 5.  I gave you each a sheet with 8 frames, and asked you to draw the ending of the play.

We moved the Macbeth projects to be due this Friday.

We finished act 4, and started act 5.

The goal is for us to finish the play this week and take the test on Thursday or Friday.  Please make sure that you are up to date on all of the notes.  A reminder: You may use all notes on the test.
