Brit Lit:

Today:

I collected any late journals.

We debated censorship and surveillance by the government.  We will finish this debate Friday.

Brit Lit:

Today:

We listed 10 characteristics of the setting in the world of 1984.

We debated censorship and surveillance.  I broke you into two sides and we worked on 4 main examples that each side will use for their debate.

I passed back your last three quizzes.

Comp. Lit. II:

Today:

A Block finished their utopia group work, and all groups presented their vision of a perfect world.
C Block:  We began the first draft of your propaganda speech.

We looked at the similarities in your Utopia's.

We reviewed your reading.

We took a quiz on ch 4-7.

We defined the following terms:

Faulty Case and Effect Reasoning
Bandwagon effect
Euphemism
Oversimplification
Begging the question
scapegoat

We looked at how these could be used to take over a group of people.

Today:

Journal Prompt:  Describe Prom (or recent school event) using Newspeak.  1/2 page.

We found three article in the morning paper an selected one to re-write and distort using newspeak.

We broke into groups and began work on your Utopia project.

HW Please read to pg 105 in 1984.  Expect a quiz.
