Comp. Lit. II

Today:

We looked at The Simpsons take on the novel Lord of the Flies.

We broke into groups of two and found four examples in Lord of the Flies of each of the different forms of Irony.


HW:  Please make sure that you are up to ch 11 in your reading.  Extra credit if you go support the cast of Anything Goes.  Please bring in a page from the program as proof and be able to answer one simple question about the play.

Shakespeare:

Today:

We had our last work day on the script.

We raised 90 cans for the food drive.  Great job helping those in need.

We did group evaluations.  If you have any specific concerns or problems in your group, please come see me.  This is a group project- pull your weight and contribute!

HW:  Make sure your script is good to go for Monday.  We will begin filming next week!

B Block:  We started with the third Lord of the Flies prompt and selected another from your group to be removed.

We looked at a LOTF flash game online that introduced us to the origin of the names, themes, and symbols in the novel.

The Evil Inside



Comp. Lit. II:

Journal Prompt:  Lord of the Files Journal day 2 (b Block) 3 (c Block)  1 page.

We finished your textual analysis of light and darkness in the novel and presented your best example to the class and explained why you selected it.

We looked at the title of ch 7- Shadows and Tall Trees.  We looked at the song of the same name by U2.  We discussed how their lp Boy was inspired by many of the themes that we have been looking at.  What music do you listen to that might be inspired by a poem or novel?

We reviewed ch 7.

HW:  Please read CH 8.  Quiz on 7-8 Thursday.

Work day 3 on your script.  These will be check Friday.  Please continue to work for that as your goal.  You are only as good as your script!  We will also be doing secret group evaluations- so please make sure that you contribute.

We finished our class debate on whether people are born good or evil.

C Block:  I passed your journals back and we worked on our survivor series of journal prompts.  Today, describe two rules that were broken and the consequences of this.  1 page.

HW:  Please read ch 6.  Expect a quiz on ch 5-6 Tuesday.

We had a quiz on the comedy terms from Shakespeare.

We broke into your movie project groups and wrote out act 1.

HW:  Please make sure that you watch/review the play that you selected.  You should understand this and know it well.
