Today we:
Looked at using transitional words to improve your writing. I gave you a practice sheet and collected these.
We looked at the section that often plagues students at Tantasqua- Poetry.
We looked at the type of questions that they might ask.
We did a practice prompt for Poetry.
We looked at how the MCAS is scored. You each answered the prompt given on poetry. Your prompt was passed around and graded by 3 graders in class. We will do more of this on Friday.
We talked about strategies: Read the piece of literature. Read the question, underline the points that are being asked. Re-read the section with attention to the underlined parts. Cross out the two most obvious incorrect answer. Answer the BEST selection.
We agreed on a thesis statement for the prompt give, and all used the same one. You answered the prompt on poetry, using an outline and examples to back up your statements.
